Spring Into Summer

June 18, 2024

We had a blast kicking off summer and celebrating our community as families gathered at Fritsch Park in Fox Crossing, WI on Saturday, May 18, 2024, for the third annual Spring into Summer event. Hosted by United Way Fox Cities Emerging Leaders, and proudly sponsored by Alta Resources, this free event encouraged kids to go on a reading adventure this summer through a pirate-themed treasure hunt of fun-filled activities, topped off with a free book!

A special shoutout to one of our very own, Louise Manthei, someone who truly embodies Alta Resources’ Guiding Principles. Louise has played a key role in bringing Spring into Summer to life for over a decade. Because of this, she has been able to build lasting connections with and among families, volunteers, and local businesses. A teacher at heart, Louise’s dedication stems from her love for kids and seeing them excited about spending time with their families. Not only have her efforts brought our community together, but they have also shown our community’s ability to make a positive impact.

What started as a Valentine’s Day festival at a local elementary school 13 years ago, is now an exciting outdoor summer event that many families look forward to. While there aren’t many things we can thank COVID-19 for, this is one of them. Louise was all-in when it came to the new and improved event, despite hesitation from others. She rallied a team of her peers at Alta Resources to help her plan and support a day full of crafts and giveaways, ultimately making sure each kid felt special and valued, regardless of their circumstances.

Spring into Summer was more than just a day of fun in the sun – it showcased the strength of our community and the values we hold dear. Louise’s dedication and support from volunteers and sponsors allowed each guest to leave with new memories and a renewed love for learning. We are excited to continue living Alta Resources’ guiding principles, making a positive impact in our communities, building relationships and delivering results with passion and integrity.

Want to help Louise at next year’s event? We’d love to have you join in on the fun as a volunteer. If volunteering isn’t an option, there are other ways to support the event and give back. Louise is looking for donations of items to give away or bulk items that could be used in a craft. Any support is greatly appreciated! Save the date for next year’s event, and let’s continue to make a difference together!
