As a signatory to the UN Global Compact, Alta Resources is acutely aware of its impact on both then environment and society as a whole. Alta actively seeks to align its environmental processes with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation), 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and 13 (Climate Action).
Our Progress
Alta Resources measures its Scope 1, 2 & 3 (GHG) emissions in accordance with the internationally recognized GHG Protocol, and publicly discloses these emissions figures in its annual sustainability report.
To actively reduce its emissions, we have implemented several key initiatives organization-wide. These efforts include substantial improvements in IT infrastructure, particularly the reduction of its data center footprint. In addition, we have invested in green buildings, notably our new office in Fort Myers, Florida. This building prioritizes sustainable materials and energy-efficient systems to reduce the environmental impact of its physical space.
A significant part of our emission reduction strategy has also been the adoption of a hybrid work model, which has decreased the necessity for employee commuting and, consequently, the emissions associated with it. By reducing the demand for on-site presence, the hybrid model also supports the company’s energy-saving goals by reducing energy consumption in office spaces.
Collectively, these initiatives have yielded measurable progress: from 2022 to 2023, Alta achieved a 12% reduction in its Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
Joining the UN Global Compact
In 2024, we joined the UN Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. This commitment aligns with our core values and enhances our efforts to operate responsibly across human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. By participating in this initiative, we aim to deepen our engagement with sustainable practices and contribute to the global movement for a better future for people and the planet. Alta’s Environmental management System aligned to ISO:14001 allows us to effectively manage our environmental processes and our annual sustainability report serves as our (COP) to the UN Global Compact.
